Project Overview
KARM DESIGN was commissioned to manufacture two pump bowls, two impeller shrouds, and two impellers for a seawater pump system. The existing components had reached the end of service life, and OEM lead times and pricing were no longer viable for the client.
Solution
Our engineering team attended the customer’s plant to carry out detailed inspection and dimensional assessment of the existing equipment. Each component was then reverse-engineered in-house, with Ni-Resist selected for the pump bowls and shrouds to deliver excellent corrosion resistance in seawater conditions, and Duplex stainless steel chosen for the impellers for superior strength and wear resistance.
Using advanced 3D scanning and modelling, we also optimised the impeller hydraulics, improving efficiency while maintaining full compatibility with the existing pump assembly.
Results
Improved Lead Time
Completed and delivered significantly faster than the OEM.
Cost Savings
Substantially reduced overall project cost.
Increased Performance
Improved hydraulic efficiency, durability, and corrosion resistance.
By combining on-site engineering support with advanced reverse and re-engineering capabilities, KARM DESIGN delivered a faster, more efficient, and longer-lasting solution for the client’s critical seawater pumping system.
